Nissan Rogue vs. Hyundai Santa Fe

Nissan Rogue vs. Hyundai Santa Fe

Both redesigned for 2021, the Nissan Rogue and the Hyundai Santa Fe are two great options for families that are looking to purchase a midsize two-row SUV. Wondering how they compare? You're in the right place!

Our team at Maus Nissan of Crystal River compares the two SUVs so you can make the best decision for your family.

The Hyundai Santa Fe has three available powertrains and offers 191-horsepower and a 2.5-liter 2-cylinder engine with an 8-speed automatic transmission on the two lower trims. You can also choose between front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. The upper trim levels get a turbocharged 2.5-liter engine with 281 hp.

It gets 24 mpg in the city and 38 on the highway, but the hybrid version offers 39 mpg in the city and 35 mpg on the highway and is available in the two middle trims.

The Nissan Rogue offers 181 hp and 181 lb. of torque and is paired with a CVT. Fuel economy is 29 mpg with FWD and 28 with AWD for off-road capabilities. It offers 27 mpg in the city and 35 on the highway.

Both vehicles were fully redesigned for 2021 and offer a sporty adventurous look. The Nissan Rogue wears crisp pressed sheet metal.

The Hyundai Santa Fe is much wider and longer than the Nissan Rogue, which can make finding a parking spot a challenge.

The Santa Fe offers an upgraded interior and room for ample cargo, as does the Rogue which wows with upscale finishes and upgraded features.

In terms of seating, you will be able to fit the same number of passengers in both SUVs and you'll be able to fit the same amount of groceries or cargo in both vehicles as well!

Safety & Tech

The Hyundai Santa Fe includes numerous standard safety features, mostly once you get above the base model. Lower trims are outfitted with an 8-inch touchscreen equipped with Apple Car Play and Android Auto. Wired smartphone mirroring is an available feature included with a 10.25-inch unit in the higher trims.

The Platinum trim of the Nissan Rogue offers a digital instrument cluster, a 9-inch touchscreen, an available heads-up display, and more! Lesser trims include 8-inch displays but still, come with ample tech capabilities.

While the Hyundai Santa Fe offers some of the same features, it doesn't offer many of the standard and the available features that are offered on the Nissan Rogue such as:

Two USB ports
Hands-Free Text Messaging Assistant
Nissan Intelligent Mobility™ driver assistance features
Available Door to Door Navigation
Curfew Alert
Valet Alert
Destination Assistance

The Rogue also comes with an impressive list of standard active safety features and sophisticated semi-automated driving features as part of Nissan's ProPilot Assist package.

Bottom Line

When Crystal River drivers compare the Nissan Rogue to the Hyundai Santa Fe on performance alone, they may notice that the Santa Fe is slightly more powerful. That said, it is important to note that the Santa Fe has a much higher starting price, and the Rogue can achieve nearly the same power with much higher fuel economy numbers!

When choosing between the Nissan Rogue and the Hyundai Santa Fe, we believe the Rogue wins the match-up in terms of safety features, interior luxury, and cost-effectiveness.
