2022 Nissan Maxima vs 2022 Honda Accord

2022 Nissan Maxima vs 2022 Honda Accord Post

This year, Nissan proudly introduced the new Maxima as the 4-door sport luxury sedan. Seeing as how most sports cars are two-door vehicles, this is a welcome addition as it can easily accommodate an entire group of people while still providing all of the thrills that come with a performance setup. With the new hotness that is the 2022 Maxima, can the latest Accord even compete? Your friends at Maus Nissan of Crystal River are here with all the details!

2022 Nissan Maxima vs 2022 Honda Accord

Nissan has been going all-out on their most recent lineup of vehicles by not only providing powerful engines, but also intuitive technology to give you a more advanced driving experience. This includes the Maxima which also has a high safety rating and interior features that make Honda’s new Accord seem a bit bland.

Performance

Between the Maxima and the Accord, the difference in the powertrain isn’t even fair. The new 2022 Maxima comes standard with a very impressive 3.5L V6 engine at 300 horsepower which is well above average (as expected of a great sports car). What makes this engine truly durable is that it utilizes sodium in the exhaust valves and is built with anodized pistons. But that’s not all that’s incredible about this build. The Maxima has an independent multi-link rear suspension with monotube shocks to bring you the smoothest and most comfortable ride no matter where the road takes you. The Maxima SR trim is even more special with track-inspired suspension to give you ultimate performance. As an added bonus, even the wheels are double-spoked with W-rated tires that love to stick to the road for excellent traction. And of course, Nissan’s latest obsession with Xtronic CVT allows you to enjoy an even smoother driving experience.

The build on the Honda Accord isn’t designed for performance as much as the Maxima. It comes standard with a 1.5L Turbo engine at 192 horsepower which doesn’t even come close. There is an available 2.0L VTEC Turbo engine, but it caps out at 252 horsepower which is still significantly lower, and it only comes in the Sport trim. The rest of the build doesn’t make up for the loss in power as the most notable thing about the Accord’s assemblage is the adaptive damper system, but many sports car enthusiasts still prefer the Maxima’s clean and intuitive suspension.

Safety Features

Driving sporty requires a great deal of safety features and the Maxima came absolutely prepared. Of course, it comes standard with Nissan’s Safety Shield 360 package with all of the basics, but the Maxima comes with plenty of extras including all kinds of intelligent technology and a Drive Assist Display so you can also know what’s going on in every aspect of your drive. Intelligent safety features for the Maxima include:

  • Intelligent Cruise Control
  • Intelligent Lane Intervention
  • Intelligent Forward Collision Warning
  • Intelligent Around View Monitor

With all of the amazing safety features available in keeping you proactively secure and intact, it’s no wonder the new Maxima earned the IIHS Top Safety Pick+ title. On the other hand, the new Honda Accord does come with Honda Sensing, which is similar to Nissan’s Safety Shield 360, but that’s about all it has when it comes to protecting you during your drive.

Interior

Both the Maxima and Accord come with a good handful of essential luxury interior features such as heated and ventilated seats, dual-zone automatic temperature control, and active noise cancellation so you can stay focused on a fun and cozy experience everywhere you go. However, the Maxima did not forget that it’s still a sports car. You’ll be absolutely amazed at the Zero Gravity Seats which have been scientifically engineered to keep you in a neutral seating position to minimize fatigue on your body, and 3D bolsters make sure to keep you in place no matter how intense the drive.

Most vehicles come with a branded audio system and specialized speakers, such as the Maxima which comes equipped with a setup by the ever-popular Bose brand. If you look into the Accord’s specs, you’ll be disappointed to find that this particular sports car does not come with a name-brand system. Nowadays, it’s rare to find a brand-new vehicle with such basic speakers.

Bottom Line

Starting at $37,840, the 2022 Nissan Maxima actually comes at a good value when you consider all of the finer details that make up this particular model. Although the Accord may be slightly cheaper, you’ll notice the lower price reflected in the lack of quality. For a luxury sports car to enjoy for years to come, you’ll be glad that you went with the Maxima.
