Looking for a crossover SUV that can do it all? You’re probably looking into getting either the Rogue or the Sportage, but only one gives the better all-around experience. The enthusiasts at Maus Nissan of Crystal River are here to show you how the new 2023 Nissan Rogue beats the 2023 Kia Sportage in every way.

2023 Nissan Rogue vs 2023 Kia Sportage

The latest Rogue has much to offer in every aspect which makes it the more ideal choice compared to the Sportage. Better performance, more safety features, and a stunning yet comfortable cabin is just common sense when crafting an SUV to be loved by every type of driver.

Performance

Not only does the 2023 Rogue provide excellent mileage, but the engine itself has much to behold. It comes equipped with a 1.5L VC-Turbo capable of 201 horsepower and with the assistance of an Xtronic CVT, 5 different drive modes, and an available Intelligent AWD. The result is a fluid and dynamic drive that can only be fully expressed from behind the wheel.

Both the engine power and mileage in the Sportage pale in comparison to the Rogue. Despite the engine being a higher capacity of 2.5 liters, the cap at 187 horsepower is severely underwhelming. The Sportage offers two varying mileages depending on the trim level, but neither of them can match what the Rogue has to offer. The FWD powertrain has 25 in-city and 32 highway miles per gallon with the AWD option providing a rating of 23/28, both of which are well under each of the Rogue’s mileage ratings.

Safety Features

Nissan rarely loses the safety category, and they continue to keep the streak going with the latest Rogue model. The inclusion of ProPILOT Assist, Safety Shield 360, and various intelligent features like the available Intelligent Around View Monitor is tough to beat. Designed to keep you and your passengers safe, it’s no wonder that the 2023 Rogue earned the 2022 IIHS Top Safety Pick+ award. Kia, on the other hand, has equipped the Sportage with their basic Kia Drive Wise package with not much else to brag about.

Interior

While driving any car, the quality of the interior cabin is just as important as anything else. At first glance, the Rogue invites you to a sleek and stylish cabin made of fine materials and exciting yet comfortable colors. You can enjoy a unique quilted pattern with contrast stitching for the seats, and the design of the shift knob is far from common. Tri-zone automatic temperature control and dual-panel panoramic moonroof help make every passenger feel comfortable and at home. And with kid-friendly features such as the LATCH seatbelt system, rear sunshades, and Rear Door Alert, your backseat has no age restrictions.

If you were to go straight from the cabin of the 2023 Rogue right into a new Kia Sportage, you’ll nearly suffer from culture shock after seeing the Sportage’s lackluster interior design. The dash looks old and bland, the seats are designed with ordinary patterns, and the gear shift is so big and clunky that it feels impractical. And even though the audio system comes in available Harman Kardon quality, you’ll only be able to enjoy 8 total speakers compared to the Rogue’s 10 speakers in its premium Bose setup.

Bottom Line

For an SUV with plenty of power, safety features, and a comfortable cabin, the 2023 Nissan Rogue is the best choice. The new Kia Sportage falls behind in every category, leaving you with something that feels unimpressive and nearly empty.
